I've been meaning to blog about my baby girl's nursery for a while now
and now that she's 6 months old I'm finally getting around to it:)
Her room is pretty small so I had limited space to work with
but it turned out perfect and exactly how I had imagined!
It's definitely one of my favorite places to spend time with Paislee.
I chose the colors I wanted to incorporate into her room...
light pink, gold, white and grey for the walls.
I decided on more of a vintage/shabby chic theme and went from there.
I bought the crib from a friend of ours and started getting little things like her bed canopy, rug, curtains, chandelier and some frames from Amazon, buy buy baby, Wal-mart,
Porters and Hobby lobby.
Then came painting.....
Oh boy was that rough. I was like 25-26ish weeks pregnant if I remember right.
It was summer time, Jake was gone at work so most of the work was up to me.
The texturing in her room is so deep that I had to put 2-3 coats of primer on the walls after tapping off
Then I went to Sherwin Williams to pick out the perfect grey tone.
Then painting began...
(Oh I should mention this was my second room to do and the painting excitment kind of wore off.)
My sister-in-law came over to help me with the first coat which was so nice. Pregnant women and painting don't mix after a while. Well I ended up doing like 2-3 coats again of grey paint and finally I was done with that.
I started thinking it was too dark but there was NO way I was redoing all that work.
I got a bunch of things from my nursery from my mom like old picture frames, shelves and baby clothes.
With the help of pinterest I kind of started putting everything together.
I painted the frames and mason jars gold and white. Jake refinished a glider and foot stool I found at a garage sale andwe painted it white and then my good friend Aubree, owner of Aub's Boutique, reupholstered the cushions from fabric I found at JoAnn's. I also picked out fabric for her crib bumper pads and quilt from Hancock Fabric and my friend, Merna Marler was so sweet to sew the bedding for me. I love both of them so much!
I also found a dresser (to use as a changing table as well) and a night stand that are almost exact replicas of the ones I had growing up. I found them with the help of my mom from garage sale websites and they couldn't be more perfect!
I wanted to incorporate things from my nursery into hers anyway possible.
I bought some hooks for home depot to hang up some vintage baby clothes of mine.
I also cleaned my favorite bunny growing up and now my daughter can love it too (its in her crib now). I got so many fun books from my baby showers but I also have some of my favorites from growing up in her book collection too.
My mom put together a darling little lamp that we had for decoration at my Utah baby shower and it works so perfectly in her room. We use it every night!
My sweet friend, Angela made a cute "A" sign for Anderson that I love.
I grew up with so many porcelain dolls so I wanted a few for her room. My mom got them both for me (one was mine when I was little) and I think they go so well with the vintage theme.
Anyone who knows me knows how dearly I love my Grandma Jo and how much I miss her.
I know she took care of our Paislee before she came to us
and I know she would've loved spending time with her great-granddaughter.
It meant a lot to me to try and include my Grandma Jo into her nursery.
I did this by including some of her baby/childhood pictures and it's so special to me.
I plan to tell Paislee all about Grandma Jo and how wonderful she truly was.
I made all her bow/headband stands. I got some ideas off pinterest and I think they turned out darling. This girl has so many dang bows...my guilty pleasure you could say. haha
Once Paislee was born we had Caralee Case of Idaho Falls take her newborn pictures
and lets just say I'm obsessed with them! She had me send her pictures of Paislee's nursery before hand and drop off any headbands I wanted her in so she could really get a vision for her pictures.
She is so amazing and we love how they turned out. I highly recommend her to anyone!
We got a ton printed and I put them into some of the frames in her room as well as maternity pictures which were taken by my talented friend, Rachel Taylor.
I also did birth announcements and I made a hospital shadow box including one as well as things from the hospital that now hangs in her nursery as well.
Every detail is so special to me and like I said her nursery turned out exactly how I'd imagined it would for my baby girl.
I was able to do it all on a budget, find deals, be creative
and of course inherit some of my things from growing up:)
Hope you enjoy!
That's just some of her bows. The rest are on the pink drawers and in the night stand haha
Seeing my baby girl shortly after she was born.
Great-grandma Jo when she was little
